Thanks to my sister Elizabeth Hine Walker’s help I found a teeny bit more information about Hazel’s father, Albert Henry. In response to my posting the above photo of Albert Henry and a little girl who was previously believed to be his sister, Elizabeth left the following comment:
“Albert didn’t have a younger sister. His mother, Mary Elizabeth Morton, died in childbirth. This is probably the daughter of Dicey and William Ebey. Albert was the fourth child of Hiram and Mary Elizabeth Morton and lived with his mother’s sister Dicey Ebey until he was seven. His father married again and there were two half brothers.” Dicey and her husband William lived in Cooperstown. They had a five year old daughter when Albert came to live with them. When he was seven, he returned to live with his father and step mother in Canton.”
*2024 Update*
I have gathered more information about Albert’s early life in this post. He did have younger half sisters from his father’s second marriage to Hannah Evans:
- Bessie M (Henry) Wages (1895-1991)
- Gladys M Henry (b. 1899)
- Helen M. (Henry) Rasch (1901-1966)
Looking at the photo, I think Albert appears to be about 14 years old and the sister about 7. Going on that, I think the sister in this photo is most likely Bessie.
