(served New Year’s Eve)
2 eggs
2 Tablespoons sugar
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon baking powder
2 cups flour
1 1/3 buttermilk
1/2 cup raisins
4 large apples
powdered sugar
- Sift flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda and salt.
- Beat eggs until light and add buttermilk.
- Pour this gradually into dry mixture, beating well.
- Add raisins and apples, chopped fine.
- Drop by spoonfuls into hot fat and fry 3 minutes.
- Roll in powdered sugar.
I have had these! So good and right for a frosty New Year’s night! I thought it was a yeast dough, so this recipe….Happy New Year. Memory of Hazel makes me smile.
