After Albert Henry’s mother Mary Elizabeth Morton died when he was a baby, Albert went to live with his mother’s sister, Dica “Dicey” Jane (Morton) Ebey. The above image shows Dicey’s children Sam, Julia, Mary, and Oscar Ebey.
I can’t find an 1890 or 1900 census for Dicey and her family (just as I can’t for Albert). Albert and Julia were the exact same age — I bet they would’ve had fun together!
June 2024 Update
I did find a 1900 US Census for Dicey’s children living with her mother Julia Ann (Riddle) Morton in Cooperstown, Brown County. Julia is listed as a widow, so we know Samuel died before 1900. Julia is also listed as head of household, and while alternatives are possible, this strongly points towards Dicey and her husband Samuel passing away before 1900.
