Letter from Richard Hine to Jennie Smith 1908

This was written a little over a year before they were married (and over 100 years ago) after what must have been a heated discussion! Jennie kept the letter in her dresser drawer for the rest of her life, and Dick kept his word. “He was absolutely devoted to my mother,” said their youngest son, Glenn (31 Aug 2008).

Submitted by Glenn Hine and Annabel Hine. The original letter is in Glenn’s posession in Spencer, NY. (Note: the paper on which the original letter was written was too long to fit on the scanner bed, so it was divided into two sections.)
